I asked the hosts for lots of suggestions since there isn’t much to do in the city, and they were always friendly and helpful. They even helped another guest who accidentally lost his key by finding some tools. The hosts were happy to help with anything. I enjoyed my stay so much that I spent four nights here while passing through the city. It feels more like staying with a local family than at a typical hostel. The facilities are excellent, the rooms are really clean, and everything gets cleaned regularly. The modern air conditioning worked perfectly and made the stay comfortable.

Lorna went above and beyond to help us feel safe in a city that can be less secure at certain times of day, which gave us real peace of mind. We slept wonderfully and felt at ease throughout our stay at McKay’s Hostel. Everything was spotless, the hot shower was a treat, and we got an incredibly warm welcome when we arrived. It’s also conveniently located within walking distance of both the boat terminal and bus station, which made travelling easy and stress-free. Highly recommended!

The owners are an attentive family, and the relaxed, safe atmosphere made this place feel like a real find in the heart of Belize City. They provide coffee and water, and you can ask to use a locker. The facilities are clean and modern, with a comfortable bed, hot showers, and fans. Grocery stores and restaurants are nearby, and it’s less than a 10-minute walk to the central bus station. I went to Hopkins from there. The airport is a 25-minute drive away. I’d stay again in a heartbeat.

The owner and her sons are very friendly and helpful. By coincidence, one of the sons actually stamped us into the country at the airport lol. It’s a good budget option for BC, in a safe area close to downtown. It’s also safe to walk there from the bus station.

We felt very safe, and everyone was super nice. They even ordered food for us. The bed was comfortable and the hot shower was really great. We had a great stay, and got lucky enough to have the whole house to ourselves.
