Toucan Suite @ Mahogany Hall

The personalized service was great, helped by the fact that there are only a few rooms and not many guests. We stayed in one of the smaller rooms. It was adequate and well stocked, but very small, and I found myself envying the photos of the larger rooms. We were tired and ate dinner at the hotel on our first night, but felt pressured because you have to make dinner or breakfast plans ahead so they can prepare. There’s nothing nearby that you can walk to. We had a rental car, which made getting around easy, but without one you’d need a taxi or to buy a tour.

Marsha and Jose were very nice, friendly, and provided great hospitality. The staff deserve full stars. The hotel is very remote with nothing around it, and there are no elevators. Our rooms were small and had a pungent smell, and the beds weren’t comfortable. The bar felt like a cafe, there was no restaurant, and the menu had only one item. I wouldn’t recommend it for a family getaway.

The meals were fresh, full of flavor, and beautifully presented every time. We also loved the bathtub overlooking the lush jungle, a special way to unwind. Mahogany Hall was peaceful and serene, set beside a beautiful tropical river that was lovely for swimming and relaxing. The natural surroundings made it feel calm and restorative. The staff were attentive and accommodating, and made us feel well cared for throughout our stay. It’s our favorite hotel experience ever, and we can’t wait to return!

The river is refreshing and a lot of fun to explore, wade in, and swim. The accommodations are perfect for couples, and the restaurant and bar were just right, with great meals at fair prices. Fantastic place.
