We spent New Year’s with a big family group and had a good time overall, partly because we’re a pretty outgoing bunch. I liked the grounds and rooms, but what we paid didn’t feel matched by the service, beach, or especially the food choices. I wouldn’t recommend the all-inclusive package. The breakfast buffet was the most overpriced I’ve ever had, with no omelette station and really bad flavor. The chefs’ dinner on NYE had a few good parts but still didn’t feel worth the price. We found Tranquility resort restaurant nearby and it was outstanding, much better and far more affordable. There were also problems arranging pickup at the ferry terminal. Staff didn’t coordinate it, and when we tried calling the hotel, we couldn’t reach anyone who could give useful guidance. The beach at the hotel was dirty and covered in algae. A ten-minute walk to Tranquility Bay Resort got us to a much better beach and restaurant. If I return to this part of the world, I’d stay at Tranquility Bay resort instead.

It was very quiet when we visited, with only one or two other families on the whole property. The food and drinks were great, and the staff really went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Yanissa was a wonderful concierge, and Ricky, Salva, Mario, Keshawna, and Celeste were all great too. The resort still has a few small repairs left from the recent closure and sale, though nothing major. They also need to address the sargassum. They’re unlucky to be in an area where it’s especially heavy, but they’ll need a solution to make the beach usable. Even so, we really enjoyed our stay and would consider coming back.

The rooms are great, the grounds look nice, and it’s quiet and calm, so it could work if all you want is a day or two of sleep. There’s good air conditioning too. That’s about all it has going for it, even with the all-inclusive package. The beach isn’t usable because of the heavy, smelly seaweed. Four workers and loud tractors shovel at it all day, every day, and still can’t keep up. There are two pools: one has loud music, a bar, and kids playing, while the one at the back is quiet. But there are no bartenders walking around to bring food or drinks. You can supposedly order poolside through a WhatsApp account, but nobody monitors it. If food does arrive, it may sit there until night. There isn’t much to do. The few events are disorganized. Our yoga session was listed for 9 a.m. and didn’t start until 10. The website makes the round-trip shuttle sound like it goes to and from San Pedro, but it only covers arrival and departure. A ride costs $15 USD per person. There’s one restaurant in a strange location, and the menu doesn’t change. The food is okay. They make you sign a bill every time you get a drink or food, which feels like a tip trap. They advertise great snorkeling from the beachfront, but that isn’t true. The seaweed extends about 50 meters out, and if it’s windy they won’t even give you gear to try. The free snorkel trip was canceled every day because of wind, with nobody telling us. We had to go ask at the front desk. The bar stops serving at 9 p.m., so don’t expect a nightcap. Bikes are listed as part of the package on the website and the handout, but they don’t actually have any. They ran out of red wine two days into our trip and never restocked it or told us if they were trying to get more. Service was mediocre at best. The front desk seemed annoyed whenever we asked for something and didn’t seem interested in making the experience better. What the website promises, including snorkeling, bikes, multiple bars and restaurants, doesn’t match what’s actually here. There’s just one restaurant. It looks like a nice resort, but it feels like a money grab. We felt lied to, cheated, and disrespected. We wouldn’t stay again or recommend it unless you’re happy to sunbathe and walk across the property for a drink.

Our son’s seventh birthday was the reason for our trip to San Pedro, and Reef Haven Belize made it feel magical. The housekeeping team decorated our room so beautifully, and those thoughtful touches gave us memories we’ll treasure. Yani at the Welcome Center was a huge help before and during the stay. She kept us informed, answered our questions by message, and made everything feel easy. Captain Salva was professional and kind, and we felt safe and comfortable with him. Almira helped keep everything organized, while Celeste and Keshawna at the front desk were friendly, attentive, and always ready to help. We also loved eating at the restaurant. Our server took great care of us, and the chef’s fresh, delicious food was amazing every time. As the guest, Anuj, I can honestly say our family vacation exceeded expectations. The whole team’s hospitality and attention made the birthday celebration unforgettable. We’d recommend Reef Haven Belize to families, couples, or anyone looking for a memorable stay in San Pedro. We can’t wait to come back!

The quiet, remote setting made it easy to slow down and relax. Reef Haven Belize is about a 30-minute boat ride from San Pedro, so it’s a good fit if you want to disconnect and enjoy a more secluded side of Belize. My husband especially enjoyed the poolside bartenders. The resort has new owners, and we had a few uncertainties early on, including getting our booking confirmation close to the arrival date. Once we arrived, though, the team went out of their way to welcome us and look after us. They clearly care about building something special. The staff were warm and attentive throughout, and their kindness made a lasting impression. The resort is still developing its five-star, all-inclusive plans, and dining choices were limited while we were there. The food was thoughtfully prepared, though, and the service stayed friendly and accommodating. The experience felt personal rather than commercial. We left feeling relaxed and hopeful about a return visit. Reef Haven has a tranquil location and a caring team, and I expect it to become even more impressive as the new owners expand what they offer and refine how things run.
