Spindrift Hotel

I could get work done here thanks to the desk and Wifi >40MB. The rooms have a nice sea view, and there's a cute shared spot to sit and relax, plus a restaurant right by the beach. Jami and Tim were considerate and helpful with requests, and the service made the stay really nice. I checked a few places in SP, and this seemed the best value if you're not after a resort.

Spindrift Hotel has a special place in my heart. I'm Belizean American and live abroad now, and I love staying here when I come back to San Pedro Town. From the balcony, I enjoy watching the sunrise over the bright blue Caribbean Sea, with local vendors setting up Belizean treasures along the shore. That mix of culture, community, and connection feels grounding. Its location in the heart of San Pedro makes getting around easy. Fine dining, local food, deep tissue massages, and water activities are all within walking distance. The hotel feels like a real Belizean experience, something bigger commercial resorts can't recreate. Spindrift also has history and character, with a legacy beyond its well-known Chicken Drop. It's clean, safe, accessible, and affordable, though it doesn't have every extra that fancier hotels offer. I appreciate having more money left to enjoy Belize. I'm sharing this with love and gratitude. If you want peace of mind, local culture, and good value, this is a place to consider. The sunny front view and the sundeck seating were nice, and the lobby is beautiful, but my business trip stay at Spin Drift Hotel was frustrating. The room was small, and the supposed upgrade to a beachfront suite was basically the same room facing the ocean. Our original room had an AC remote that didn't work. I was told the showers had controlled temperatures, but every time I used one, the water was very cold and salty. I could smell and taste the salt. There was also a safety issue with the balcony door: the heavy glass slider had no outside handle, so if it shut fully, I'd be locked out. The utensils, a spoon, knife, and fork, were rusty and looked dirty, with something that seemed like jam on them. I thought maybe they'd run out of time after the upgrade, but the coffee machine also had old coffee residue from the previous guest. I had to loosen what smelled like old Folgers grounds with a spoon while cleaning it, so it seemed like it hadn't been cleaned in a while. Spin Drift has potential, but based on my experience, I would hesitate to recommend it.
