Voyager Sun & Reef Hotel

Our deluxe king room was really comfortable, and we appreciated how clean the hotel was and how helpful the staff were. It’s also close to the ferry terminal. There is street noise that can’t really be avoided, but we still had a great stay at The Voyager Sun and Reef hotel, one of our best in Belize.

A lovely, clean room with a MASSIVE bed, just a short walk from the port and the dive schools. The people were lovely too.

The most uncomfortable part of my stay was how a staff member handled the rule against non-guests in rooms. When a friend visited, I was reminded of the policy casually, but in front of them, and I felt embarrassed. They could have raised it privately and with more tact. Staff were generally welcoming, which made that interaction stand out. I was also disappointed that the hotel’s website photos looked significantly better than the property did in person. Noise from outside was noticeable and disruptive, despite other reviews describing a quiet atmosphere. That expectation had influenced my booking. The Voyager Sun Reef Hotel has potential, and San Pedro gives you access to Belize’s beauty, but the online presentation and guest experience didn’t feel consistent. I think there are likely more transparent, comfortable options.

The staff at Voyager Sun and Reef Hotel were helpful from check-in right through to checkout. The rooms have the basics you want after a day out: AC, a hot shower, and a bed. San Pedro is lively, and people are respectful and welcoming. I’d read complaints about cold showers, bad pillows, and loud nights with parties and barking dogs, but we didn’t have those problems. We did hear a dog one night, though. It wasn’t all night or enough to spoil the stay, and my husband and I laughed, thinking, there’s the famous dog. We had a great visit and would stay here again.
