Atelier Skalo Boutique Hotel

The location was good and check-in went smoothly, so we felt pleased with our choice at first. Our room was clean and well equipped, and the shower was roomy, but the water was ice cold. We thought it might be because we showered late and were the last ones to use it, so we went to bed comfortably enough. The next morning it was still cold. We told the front desk and gave staff permission to enter the room and investigate. That evening, after a third cold shower, we asked for an update. Nothing had been fixed, and they said there was no other room available. By the afternoon of Day 3, the water was still cold and plumbing had backed up into our room. I reported it, and they offered to have housekeeping mop the floor. They seemed unconcerned about our situation and frustration. With no other room available, we felt we had to move hotels. We had paid for six nights but stayed only two miserable nights. The front desk offered to refund one night and keep the rest of the payment. Our booking agent couldn’t help, and the hotel still hasn’t refunded even that one night. The old building is cute and the location decent, but I wouldn’t feel safe doing business with them again. The stairs to second-floor rooms are steep and narrow, with no elevator, and could be precarious for people with mobility challenges.

The rooms were impeccable, and the staff were lovely. They welcomed me warmly and were kind whenever I had a question or request. It’s a gorgeous boutique hotel, with breakfast available and a pool. I hope to return soon.

The service was awful. Breakfast was meant to be included every day, but there was none on Sunday and nobody told us. We also asked to have the room cleaned and it wasn’t done. The staff were rude and unfriendly. My pregnant wife asked about the cleaning, and the night attendant told her it was time for her to leave, then walked away while she was still talking.

We loved the peaceful, beautiful hotel near the center of Willemstad. The staff were so kind and friendly, always ready with helpful tips about the city, and our room was incredibly cozy. Breakfast was well balanced, tasty, and nicely prepared. The coffee deserves a special mention. Weeks after leaving, we’re still talking about how good it was. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and definitely recommend the place.
