El Bario's wonderful staff made us feel welcome, and the location made it easy to explore. There are lots of good places to eat and drink within walking distance, and Queen Emma bridge is a quick walk away for an easy trip to the Punda side of Willemstad. Weekend nights were a little noisy, though it eventually quieted down. My wife and I enjoyed our stay and would love to come back.

The room had a fridge, stove, microwave, and pots and pans, so cooking there was often a good option. The beds, though, were uncomfortable for side sleepers and left our bodies aching. The mattress might suit someone who sleeps on their back, but with just a sheet and a thin topper, the bed never felt cozy. The bathroom had body wash but no shampoo or conditioner, and the pipes can't handle toilet paper, so there's a bin beside the toilet for it. We stayed about a week and enjoyed ourselves. Staff were helpful arranging taxis, especially early on our departure morning. WhatsApp messages often seemed to go unread, so we had better luck speaking to staff directly when we could find them. The doors only open halfway by default, which felt odd each time, though we made a joke of squeezing through. The kitchen was closed during our visit, so I can't comment on the food. I did order a drink at the bar and was charged $5US for a can of mini Heineken, which seemed way overpriced, so I bought beer from the nearby market instead. There are two cats on the premises. The grey and white one really stole our hearts. She's very friendly and outgoing, and seems keen to meet everyone.

We found the staff really friendly and easy to communicate with, and the location was wonderful. The place was clean and comfortable, just as described. We had a fantastic stay and would absolutely come back. Highly recommend it.

Even though I live on the island now, my wife and I still come to Bario Hotel for a night or two when we want a little escape without leaving the city. It always feels relaxing, authentic, and welcoming. Stephanie and her team are warm and professional, and you can tell they genuinely care about their guests. With the location, quality, and service, it's an easy place for me to recommend to friends and family visiting the island.

The staff were nice, and when I asked to have my room freshened up, they accommodated me. The bed was the main issue during most of my stay at Bario Hotel from 9/18/25 to 9/26/25. It wasn't made the way I'd expect in a hotel, and the blanket and sheets weren't very nice or were too small for the bed. The last night ruined the experience for me, which is why I take away three stars. On 9/26, a private party at the hotel bar made it impossible to sleep. I was in Curaçao on business and was tired by the end of the week. They only told me about the event an hour before it started, then “invited” me. In the morning I asked for some compensation for the lost sleep, but the manager used that “invitation,” which felt more like forcing unwanted noise on me, as a sad excuse for the unprofessional way guests were treated that night. I noticed at least one other review describing a similar experience a few years ago, so this seems to be common practice when the hotel has private events. They wouldn't even give me breakfast as compensation. The intern at the front desk was kind and gave me coffee. They should have told me about the event when I booked or when I arrived a week earlier. After this, I wouldn't stay at Bario Hotel again. I give two stars only because the staff, apart from the manager, were nice, and because of the location.
