The restaurant service let the hotel down on both visits. At breakfast, we ordered pumpkin pancakes with bacon and coffee, but the bacon never arrived even after two reminders, and the coffee was cold. On our last night, the beef stew was just okay. We asked for two glasses of water with dinner and had to ask again, then waited about 45 minutes for it. The hotel itself was clean and cute, in a great location. Our room was simple but nicely decorated, with a lovely view of the bay and bridge. The housekeeper did a great job every day, and the front desk staff were pleasant. We stayed for a week in February.

We had an amazing vacation, and the location made getting around easy. The hotel has secure parking for a rental car, handy for trips to the beach, aloe farm, or flamingo sanctuary. A free walking tour meets just down the street, and we watched the buses go by when ships were in port. J in the morning cafe was a favorite, and the staff were nice. A couple of things went wrong: we left the do not disturb sign up until late one morning and missed towels and coffee for the next day. The room safe malfunctioned, and maintenance took a day to open it. I’d skip dinner at the hotel and go to the Governor restaurant right behind it.
The location is central, and the staff are very nice and polite, though they could use more training. Early one morning, we were woken by loud construction that went on for a long time. We hadn’t been told about it, so check before booking. When we reported it, reception offered neither an apology nor compensation. Also, a cleaner came into my room without knocking while I was changing. It was shocking.
You’re steps from shops, restaurants, the fort, and the pontoon bridge, and there are two beach bars. The oceanfront infinity pool is amazing. And those robes are hard to beat!
We stopped in for a meal while on our cruise. The ahi tuna salad was awful, I thought I was eating a pork chop. The hamburger was okay, nothing special. I first ordered the half roasted chicken, but they didn’t have it. The bill came to $60, and after bringing the food, our server never returned. I had to track her down to pay.
