The location in Pietermaai was ideal for walking around downtown Willemstad, visiting local restaurants, and seeing the famous Queen Emma “swinging” bridge. The hotel’s character and the warm hospitality made it a great base for sightseeing and dining. There was loud construction noise outside our original room, but the staff acted right away. They moved us to an upgraded room and checked in during the rest of the trip to make sure things were going well. They were accommodating from the moment we arrived, and we felt genuinely cared for. I highly recommend Pietermaai Boutique Hotel for the service and location.

The service was wonderful, and they helped with all sorts of things, including transportation. It’s an old building converted into a hotel, and the room was uncomfortable, with old, worn chairs. There was no hot water in the bathroom and no bathroom door, so there was no privacy. The main gate doesn’t lock, and expect a lot of noise at night.

We love the lively Pietermaai neighborhood, so being surrounded by bars and restaurants is part of the appeal for us. It isn’t completely quiet every evening, and we wouldn’t choose this spot if quiet were what we wanted. We’ll definitely book our next holiday at Pietermaai Boutique Hotel and are already looking forward to it. The area seems to get better every year, and the hotel is right in its heart. The team is dedicated and welcoming, always ready to help. The housekeeping ladies and maintenance crew work hard to keep the beautiful buildings in excellent condition, which adds to the relaxed holiday feel. A special thanks to Evi, who I believe is the owner. Her behind-the-scenes work clearly helps everything run smoothly.

I’d stay here again, though I’d ask for a room somewhere else in the hotel. The location puts you right in the middle of everything, but our room was in a small building amid Ginger's out side dining area, so at times it felt strange walking through people to reach it. The bathroom was on an upper, loft level, with the views shown in my photos. On Thursday, a band played right outside our room and it was very noisy. They stopped at 10:30, then music continued until a little after 11, so it wasn’t too late. It’s a great hotel, but the room location had its drawbacks.

The hotel met our needs, but the noise from the surrounding bars was terrible and kept us from sleeping. If you want to be asleep before midnight, definitely don’t stay here. The location is good, but the noise is why I can’t give it five stars.
