The snorkeling right off the beach was the highlight for us. There were lots of fish, and the breakwater made swimming feel safer and more enjoyable. We rented a car and tried several other beaches, but still liked the snorkeling at Sunscape Curacao best. Our room stayed clean, and we had no trouble with hot water or housekeeping. The food was good and there was plenty of variety. It's not a gourmet Michelin experience, but we always found something we liked and ate well. Service runs on island time, so a smile goes a long way. Thanks to Nathaly and Jorge at the Blue Grill and Jermaine at the World Grill. We just got back from a week there and would recommend Sunscape Curacao and return. Solid four out of five for us.

The food was a real highlight, especially the fresh daily fruit and vegetables: watermelon, cantaloupe, passion fruit, banana and pineapple. I loved the Italian restaurant and went twice for the chicken parmigiana and mariscos pasta. The Japanese place was good too, with shrimp, beef, chicken and pork. Even the hamburger, chicken fajitas and nachos at the snack restaurant were tasty and well seasoned. There's an ice cream shop with three flavors each day, plus milkshakes from 4 to 5. I loved it. Coco Cafe has all kinds of coffee, and Anna Marie made my favorite cappuccino just how I liked it. Demi at the buffet was cheerful and kept checking if anyone needed something. Peter was attentive and listened to guests, and the young man at the ice cream shop, from st martin, had excellent customer service, though I forgot his name. The beach is beautiful, with lots to see around the rocks, so bring snorkeling gear. I stayed January 22-29 in room 2227. It was big and spacious, but the view was just trees. Building number 2 is dated, while the other buildings have been renovated. I peeked into the spacious rooms right on the beach and wished I'd chosen one of those. I'd definitely return, maybe in November, but not to building 2.

We paid about $1,000 USD extra for the SunClub upgrade, and the room was nicer, but I couldn't see what other value it added. No one asked to see our card for access, and nobody checked whether guests in the supposedly exclusive area were SunClub members or kept the general public from taking those beach chairs. The coffee maker in that area was broken our whole stay, despite everyone I spoke with having reported it. Either the benefits weren't explained clearly, or there wasn't much to the upgrade beyond the room. Communication between resort sections was poor. We had to ask repeatedly for a bottle opener before I gave up and got one myself. Cushions for the metal deck chairs never arrived either, so we used ones from the room. When booking the private beach dinner, we were told to pay on arrival, which we did. We later found out SunClub guests could use a $60 coupon toward it, but were told the payment couldn't be refunded. They offered a bottle of wine from the list, and we chose Riesling to go with our surf and turf. At dinner, no wine showed up. Our server said the restaurant manager needed to coordinate with the SunClub manager, who wasn't available. I also got food poisoning and spent my last day and a half in bed. Housekeeping missed refilling our coffee one day, and the beer we requested for the fridge never came. The food was okay, about what I'd expect from a three-star resort. The buffet was fairly good and varied; the Japanese Teppanyaki table was entertaining and the food decent. The Italian restaurant was average at best, Oceana disappointed, and Bluewater Grill was probably the best option.

We had a great time here and can't wait to return. The beach was gorgeous, and snorkeling was a blast. There were plenty of chairs and shaded spots at the beach and pool, so finding somewhere comfortable to relax was easy. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with working hot water and AC. The food was flavorful, and the drinks were top-notch. The entertainment team kept things going every day, from pool parties to evening shows, with the beach party as our favorite. Everyone on staff was friendly and polite and made sure we had what we needed. It's become one of my two favorite resorts, and I'd highly recommend it.

Being steps from the beach when we opened the room door was lovely, and the rooms themselves were probably the best part. Housekeeping was too much, though. Even with the no-service sign up, the maid took it down and came by several times a day. The food was repetitive, with a poor selection, hardly any fruit or vegetables, and unremarkable desserts. Lines were long, service slow, and there was no beach service. You also can't book dinner reservations. The Italian place and the restaurant calling itself sushi weren't worth the wait. We were seated at 6:00 and didn't get our first plate until 6:40. The beach was only okay, with sharp, spiky stones that made getting into the water difficult. The chairs were old, umbrellas scarce, and the pool small. I wouldn't recommend the resort. The rooms are nice, but the rest fell short.
