I loved being able to step out from our room onto the "porch" and relax, with the bed facing the bay. The room was immaculately clean, and the food was great. The restaurant manager was outstanding, funny, personable, and charming. Every staff member I spoke to was super friendly and helpful. They knew the history of the Silver Dart and the town, and several offered suggestions, like taking the cruise to see the local eagles get fed. It's an older hotel, which gives it character to me. Some newer, more generic hotels have views that pale in comparison. The beautiful town is just a brisk walk away, with a great coffee shop and live entertainment.

I was glad to see ramps at the main building and a dining area for guests who may have limited mobility. There's what I think is a handicap button for opening the entrance door, and the reception desk is straight ahead, with friendly staff. Inside, Silver Dart Lodge in Baddeck, Nova Scotia has a cozy feel with a bit of an aviation theme. There's a nice gift shop on the right. The carpeted ramp beside reception leads to the lower floor, where there's a nicely finished accessible washroom. It has light colored walls, three picture frames, and two lamps above the sink, which make it feel cozy. On October 4, 2025, Travac Tour had made a reservation at McCurdy's restaurant. The dining area is down four steps and has glass windows on three sides that bring in natural light. It seats 30 to 35 people, or a little more. Each waitress took a bit longer to bring out all the prepared dishes as they moved from table to table. One thing needs attention: the four steps down to the restaurant should be extended. Longer steps could help prevent falls, or a ramp could be added so the waitresses can get down to the dining area safely.

The seafood chowder at dinner was amazing, and we came back for breakfast the next morning. We were lucky to have the same wonderful server, and enjoyed another delicious meal with a view. Before dinner, we walked the trail behind the property and stopped at the pool, which surprised us with how clean and warm it was even in mid September. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, and went out of their way to help. Our room was comfortable, clean, and had everything we needed, as did the property. The views were absolutely stunning. This was our favorite stay on our trip around Nova Scotia, before setting off on the Cabot Trail. We'll definitely be back!

We had a spacious room overlooking the water, with all the necessities and plenty of parking. The lodge spreads over a large area and has a nice pool. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. There's a restaurant on the property, and town is a 20-minute walk away. A great place to stay when visiting Cape Breton. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

Mark checked us in and quickly and cheerfully gave us all the information we needed for our one-night stay. The room in McNeil House, room 301, was very clean, though a bit dated. It would've been ideal for cooking a few meals and exploring the local area if we were staying longer. From the deck right off the room, we had a lovely view of Bras D’Or Lake. The bed was super comfy, and the shower was hot with good pressure. I didn't like the smell of the toiletries, so I used my own, though it was nice they were provided. We didn't use the outdoor heated pool, but others did, and it looked very clean. The location was perfect, with local venues in the small town within walking distance.
