Sleep Inn

The room felt a little pricey for what you get, though the hotel isn't terrible. I'd give it about 3.5 out of 5. Renovations have been going on for quite a while, and some of the work looks poorly done: tiles are cut unevenly with bits of floor exposed, wiring is left visible where a wall sconce should be, and parts of a vanity light have been pieced together in a way that looks wrong. The construction materials and bins scattered around the parking lot are an eyesore, especially the huge industrial garbage bins near where customers park. The floors weren't cleaned well, and the bathroom fan takes about two minutes to start spinning and barely works after that. Given the nightly prices, I expected better.

The staff are all 10/10, friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and nice, with plenty of outlets and lights, very comfortable beds, and lots of parking. A few changes would improve the stay. There's nowhere to hang a shower towel in the bathroom, so I had to put mine on the toilet. The fridge is too small and has no separate freezer section, and it froze my lettuce until it was inedible. The Huntsville Comfort Inn has better-sized fridges with a vegetable drawer. I also wish there were microwaves in the rooms instead of having to go all the way to the kitchen to heat food. Please bring back breakfast, too. The Huntsville Comfort Inn still serves it, and I don't have the time or desire to go sit down at Stacked Pancake House in the morning. Even with the $5 coupon, it's not worth the time and effort when I need a quick bite before work. I miss the mini waffle iron. It was fun and an easy way to please guests.

The room was lovely and newly renovated, with a very comfortable bed, and the staff were kind and helpful. But the rest of the property was in the middle of construction. The parking lot was covered with debris, cigarette butts, and coffee cups; building materials filled the entrance, and there wasn't even a sign saying the hotel was open. The hallways and stairwells were torn apart, and the paint fumes in the corridor were nauseating. The advertised microwave wasn't in the room, the fridge barely worked, and although we didn't expect the bed or linens to be refreshed, we did expect fresh coffee and cups. Those weren't provided. For an affordable hotel, two nights still felt overpriced given the disruption and difficult entrance. I wouldn't recommend staying until construction is finished.

Even with the renovations underway, this was excellent value. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with quality mattresses and bedding. The staff were amazing, kind, helpful, and attentive to what we needed. Rob, Janice, and Jen at the front desk were so nice and professional, and the hardworking housekeeping staff, Michelle and Jasmine, were kind and gave exceptional service. It's the best place I've stayed, and worth putting up with the renovations.
