The front desk staff were kind to us, and Booking.com fully refunded our money after they directed us to contact them. Mistakes happen, and the staff responded appropriately. I checked in late, around 4:23, which was fine by me. But when I lifted the covers, I found two hairs on the bed and two pillows stained yellow. It was disgusting, and I realized I should have listened to the other reviews. I'm staying at Day's Inn down the block now. It cost $50 more, but it's much better.

Check-in and checkout were smooth, and the room was clean and adequate, with a comfortable bed. The room cost about half as much as a Holiday Inn. This discount hotel occupies the northwest part of a large, old Holiday Inn at McLeod Trail and 43 Ave. The lobby isn't beside the elevators, so guests have to carry their bags up a short flight of stairs to the hallway being used. There's lots of parking and a pool, and the desk can get you a bag of ice if you ask. There's no breakfast, restaurant, or other amenities. The air conditioning was a portable unit installed rather awkwardly, and there was a noticeable rust spot on the tub.

The staff are lovely, but the hotel has a lot of frustrating issues and doesn't always match what's advertised. We had to throw out planned meals because our room might not come with a fridge or microwave. There's no guest access to ice either, you have to ask the front desk to get some. Many rooms use portable air conditioners instead of central air, leaving the window essentially open and letting in plenty of traffic noise, including big trains. This hotel really isn't suitable for seniors or anyone with mobility issues, since no elevator goes to the lobby or pool. The rooms were pretty run down, and the shower fan didn't work. It feels like too many corners are being cut.

I booked one night and, although things started out okay, the stay went downhill quickly. Another guest warned us that the hotel had kept his damage deposit without explaining why. Check-in staff were rude, made us wait more than 10 minutes, and then one employee answered a phone call while we stood there. The room looked nothing like the website photos and was in far worse condition than acceptable. Around 11 PM, we went outside to look at the pool area. Returning to the hotel, we encountered a homeless man wandering the stairs, which was unsettling and made me question the security. I was on edge all night and couldn't get restful sleep. It was a terrible experience, and I strongly advise against staying here.
