Riôtel Carleton-sur-Mer

Clean and comfortable, with an excellent location.

I’ve never been treated so badly in a hotel. The receptionist said it wasn’t her problem when the restaurant was full, and when I asked her to call a taxi, she told me I could walk to another restaurant. Never again! The hotel restaurant doesn’t reserve tables for its guests. I’d called the hotel to make sure it would be open, and they didn’t say that a reservation was needed, so it was full. The hotel was also very poorly signposted for snowmobile access. The rooms lacked light and space for storing things, and without a bathroom fan, the humidity after showers was awful.

The view is incredible, and the beds are very comfortable. The rooms are large, clean, comfortable, and in a very good location. But the shower is a major problem. It’s impossible to set the temperature; it keeps switching between lukewarm and freezing cold. At this price, a decent shower is the bare minimum for a hotel.

The bed was really comfortable, and we had a lovely balcony overlooking the sea. But the fire alarm going off at 1 a.m. wasn’t great. It happened because of the humidity from the shower we’d taken before dinner. We could also hear everything from the other rooms very clearly.
