The meal was a real highlight, especially that deconstructed lemon cheesecake I’m still thinking about. Everything we ate was delicious and creative, with a lot of care behind the experience. Our room had a phenomenal view, and the setting was so beautiful and peaceful. The staff were kind and welcoming throughout. We absolutely loved our stay at Aurum Lodge.

Breakfast was delicious and thoughtfully presented, and our comfortable room had big windows looking out at the mountains and a lovely sunrise. The location made visiting Abraham Lake easy, about a 4-minute drive away for ice bubble viewing. We appreciated that Aurum Lodge is the only lodge nearby that stays open in winter. The hosts and their family were so generous, kind, and helpful that we’re not sure how we would have managed without them. We’re grateful for their warm hospitality and would happily stay again. It was an unforgettable visit, and we’d recommend it to anyone heading to Abraham Lake.

I only stopped in for lunch, since I wasn’t staying at the lodge, and it ended up being the best food I had in Alberta. I’d read the dining reviews and was honestly skeptical, but the welcome here felt special, more so than at all three Michelins in NYC. I’d take a warm, friendly lunch here any day. The food was amazing, especially the burger and desserts.

I’ve made great memories at Aurum Lodge, and it gave me plenty of chances to capture the Rocky Mountains’ light and shadows along the drive there. The night landscapes toward Columbia Ice field and Bow Lake are unbelievable. For photographers, it’s a great place to stay any time of year, especially in autumn and winter for submerged aspen and frozen bubbles. 5 definitely!

Golden Peaks was a big surprise for us. We went in just hoping for good dinners and brunch, and both the one dinner and one brunch we had there were fantastic. Almost everything is homemade, with care for sustainability. We also made a meal in the lodge using the full kitchen. The slow WiFi was kind of great, it made me put down my phone and relax. The peaceful setting by Abraham Lake felt surreal, with crisp air, nature all around, and mornings that looked like a painting. It was exactly the reset we needed for my birthday weekend. Our dog loved being there too, and the nearby Siffleur Falls hike made it even more special. Aurum Lodge feels intimate, scenic, and beautifully looked after, with the care of a family-owned place showing in the details. I kept thinking it could be lovely for a small wedding, elopement, or company retreat. Such an underrated Alberta getaway, and I’ll be back.
