Maison Zacharie

We stayed in a room with a shared bathroom, and found the staff friendly and the place beautiful and peaceful. It’s a sweet spot, but we felt the price was a little high for the quality and comfort of the amenities. We’re glad to support local entrepreneurs with such a great vision, and hope the owners can invest more in making the facilities comfortable.

The staff were friendly, the food was good, and there were cute animals around. Our room was charming, though it didn’t even have a sink, while some rooms do have their own washrooms. Until the renovations and transformation are finished, it feels more like a hostel than an inn or hotel. People who enjoy hostels will probably love it, but I likely wouldn’t return until it feels more like a hotel.

My dog has never had a better time anywhere. The place is super dog friendly, and Mike, Veronique, Jean Marie, and Nancy were all wonderful. It’s rustic, comfortable, welcoming, and amazing value compared with most hotels. We’re already planning to come back every year and see our new friends.

We had a group dinner for 10 cycling friends in the kitchen the hosts opened up for us, after they pointed us to a good food grocery. The covered pavilion in the lovely backyard was a great place to sit, and Veronica even showed us some special handmade soaps we could buy as mementos. Before we set off cycling again, they made us a perfect breakfast. Veronica and Mike, along with Veronica’s parents, were incredibly welcoming and went out of their way to make our stay memorable. The Maison Zacharie building and grounds were incredible, and we couldn’t fault the location. It’s a great place for big groups or families. Congrats to Veronica and Mike and family for making their vision a reality through all their hard work. Highly recommended, and we’ll be back.
