It’s a bit rustic in winter, and the place runs cooler than you might expect, so we regularly wore sweaters indoors. There are fireplaces in the rooms, and they provide plenty of wood, though you may need to fetch it yourself. Some areas around the buildings are in disrepair and could use a handyman. I noticed because I am one. Even with very few staff, they took good care of us and served excellent meals. The spa was body temperature and all the jets worked. The beds were excellent, the food very good, and we stayed four nights. It’s not the Ritz, but it has an old-world charm and the stay was refreshing. Once you understand how hard it is to run a place like this, you may appreciate the amenities. If you leave the princess mentality behind, you’ll enjoy it. We’d come back.
