Inn on the Lake

We'd come back. The Inn is clean and comfortable, and the location works really well for a stay before an early flight from Halifax Airport, even though the shuttle has recently been discontinued. We had lunch on the poolside patio and loved the pork tenderloin dinner in the main restaurant. The waitstaff were all friendly and efficient. The place has a lot of potential, and we were told the new owners have started updating the rooms.

The staff were friendly and efficient, and the restaurant meal was nicely prepared, though the steak was tough. Our Valentine Day Package room, 103, had a whirlpool tub and was old but clean. The bathroom fan didn't work, the faucet was really stiff, and the ceiling lightbulb flickered like it was burning out. There was no continental breakfast.

The pillowcases felt nubby from lots of washing and could use replacing, but everything else made for a fantastic anniversary stay. The room was tidy and clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the restaurant was to die for. We'll definitely be back.

I hope this was an unusual experience, because the stay was a mess. First, the booking site wouldn't let me reserve two rooms together, so I made one reservation online and another by phone with the hotel. After my plans changed, I booked a new room for one person for two nights, cancelled the online booking, and emailed to cancel the other one as the hotel's email instructed. When I called to say I'd arrive late, I was told there was no reservation. They found my new booking had been cancelled, while one of the two original reservations was still open. I only learned that latter detail from the man at the desk the next morning. The first room's TV didn't work, so I was moved. It took more than five minutes of running the water at full volume before it got hot, perhaps because there weren't many guests. A staff member said muffins and coffee were available, but the muffin I found that night was very stale and nothing was put out again during my stay. Housekeeping hadn't come by when I briefly returned the next afternoon. The woman at the front desk said they'd left and would be back the next morning. I'd left the upper sheet exposed so they could see the blood stains and change it, but it was still there. A maintenance man came over as I was getting into my car and offered to do something in the room, though he wasn't sure what housekeeping was meant to handle. I declined. Not a good stay.
