We used Canadian Rockies Inn as our base for Yoho and loved how well placed it was. It’s tucked away enough to feel quiet, too. The room was gorgeous, with everything we needed, a really comfortable bed, and a lovely bathroom. Our host was so kind and even brought over bear spray in case we wanted it for our hikes. Such a great stay.
I slept so well here. The bed was comfy, the towels were fluffy, and the hot water had good pressure. The suites at Canadian Rockies Inn are roomy, beautifully renovated, and really clean. Mica and Titan also gave me some lovely puppy cuddles. Thanks for a great stay, Luc. I’d happily come back soon and recommend it to others.
With only three rooms, this is a tiny property, but everything is kept so carefully clean and comfortable. Our bed was super comfortable, and the bathroom was huge. There’s also a gas fireplace and a little kitchen, which came in handy since there was only one restaurant in town while we were there. It was good, but being able to make our own food was nice. Luc was a wonderful host and had lots of ideas for things to do nearby.
Field worked really well for us, with Banff NP close by and plenty of Yoho hikes and sights within reach. The village is tiny, though, so don’t come expecting lots of shops and restaurants. We were pleasantly surprised by The Truffle Pig, a great restaurant with friendly people. It’s a lovely place to unwind after hiking, and the cost was in line with other places we considered. I left feeling glad Luc got our money. He earned it. We usually choose small owner-run rentals and travel quite a bit, so Luc and his place really stood out. He left a note on the door explaining where we’d be staying and how to get in, and apologized that he couldn’t be there at our arrival. As we started carrying things in, he appeared from out back just as he was heading out. He took time to chat about the accommodation and area, explain how to reach him, and bring us ice. We ran into him a couple more times, and he was always cheerful and ready with suggestions. The room was the cleanest, best cared-for place we’ve stayed. We’ve seen rentals just six months old in much worse shape. Everything was spotless and thoughtfully arranged. There’s an electric fireplace, plus a bathroom heater you can switch on before a shower. The kitchen had a kettle, coffee maker, microwave, hot plate, and a large mini fridge with a freezer section big enough for a bag of ice. The water was great, as Luc had promised, and there were plenty of pans, utensils, and flatware. The foam mattress was amazing. Somehow my wife and I both liked it, even though we prefer very different levels of softness.
These are pretty sweet digs, and the kind of place you’ll tell your friends about before planning a return. The old police station in Field, a small town in Yoho Provincial Park, has been redone as two comfortable furnished apartments. The furniture was better than expected, including a leather couch and recliner and a beautiful wood dining table. I love cooking, and the kitchen had everything I needed; it all seemed new. The king bed had an upscale foam mattress that kept me in the same position all night, with no rolling around trying to get comfortable. Luc was a pleasure to deal with. He greeted us, shared lots of tips about hikes and local sights, and made sure we had his number in case anything came up. He was there at checkout to ask for feedback, though there wasn’t much to suggest. If you want to avoid the touristy scene, it’s a good spot to relax after hiking. The Truffle Pigs Bistro is just steps away and serves excellent food. Across the street, Velvet Antler Pottery and Gallery is an old house full of beautiful pottery, and you can watch them throw pots. Once a week, a volunteer leads a walking tour about the town’s history.
