Middle Brook Cottages & Chalets

The location made it easy to visit the Tablelands and Trout River, and it worked really well for a Gros Morne vacation. We stayed with the family last July and all had a great time. The cabins were clean and well kept, with a mini split for hot weather and a front patio where we could take in the view and use the BBQ. There’s also a playground for kids, plus a swimming hole and waterfall right beside the property. One of the best cabins I’ve stayed in on the island.

The owner was so kind when I accidentally left one of my things behind. They went out of their way to mail it back, and I really appreciated that. The cottage itself was spacious, clean, and nicely organized, which made for a comfortable stay during my trip to NL. I had a wonderful time here and would gladly recommend it to anyone looking for a welcoming place to stay.

We had a terrible stay. My friends and I were bitten by bedbugs 🥲🫠. The owner refused to accept responsibility and was extremely rude. We went to the hospital and sent photos along with certificates and the doctor’s report, but the owner laughed in our faces and dragged the process out for a week and a half. It was a very upsetting experience, and I’m sorry it happened. There’s also no phone signal on the property, and the Wi-Fi was unreliable. Be careful. Update: Let’s be honest about what happened. We reported the problem, and you sent us to the hospital. The doctor gave us a certificate saying the bites were from bedbugs. Then you ignored us and didn’t reply for a couple of days, which deliberately held things up. Don’t just brush it off. Learn from this and handle problems properly. Unfortunately, you’re not customer-oriented at all. The property also removed comments that had evidence of bedbug bites. Photos had been attached to the comments before, but the property deleted the girls’ posts. Shame.

We booked the basic double room for September 4-8. It had a microwave and fridge, the shower water was hot, and the pressure was great. The beds were really comfortable, and I slept well. The cabin was peaceful and felt remote, which was relaxing. Wi-Fi was slow when lots of people were around, but worked well off peak when people were asleep or out for the day. Honestly, I didn’t mind being disconnected for a while. I’d read a few reviews about bugs, so I contacted the owners. They reassured me those were false claims and said pest control had come out and confirmed there were no bugs. I’d highly recommend Middle Brook Cottages.
