Clifty Cove Motel

The coast view was a hit with my family, and Peggy’s Cove is nearby. Our room was spacious, spotless, and comfortable. The staff were so friendly and made both check-in and check-out quick and easy. Make sure to book here if you’re travelling in the area!

We were two worn-out travellers, and this small motel suited us perfectly. Our room was lovely, clean, cozy, and in great shape, with an ocean view. Ms Renee, thanks for staying up late for us. A real gem in Peggy’s Cove, and a place I’d say is a must-stay.

We paid $600 for two nights and left feeling this was the most disappointing hospitality experience of our trip. Other places we stayed along the East Coast cost less and gave us better views, amenities, and service. We chose to holiday in Canada this year to put our hard-earned money back into the local economy, supporting Canadian businesses, from motels and shops to restaurants and farmers. We believe compensation is warranted, even necessary, given the gap between what was advertised and what we received. We’re giving the property manager or owner another chance to resolve this. Otherwise, we’ll have to dispute the undelivered amenities with our bank. There were several problems during our stay. The room smelled musty, and the towels and bedding felt damp. The Keurig didn’t work, and we couldn’t see a clear way to get clean water without using tap water, which smelled unpleasant. Wi-Fi was advertised but kept cutting out. Housekeeping also didn’t happen: after a day out, we found unmade beds, full rubbish bins, and no fresh towels. Other reviews mention similar issues. The six-inch step into the front desk area was a trip hazard with no warning sign. I tripped when we arrived, and staff showed no concern or response. It felt flippant and disrespectful. In our few other interactions, staff were dismissive too. When we tried to report problems, nobody was available, and there was no bell to alert anyone waiting at the desk. We first tried to avoid posting this review by contacting the property directly, but it’s been well over a week without a reply, despite giving the team time to respond to the concerns we raised during our stay.

We spent one night here on a visit to Peggy’s Cove and had a clean, comfortable room overlooking the ocean. I can’t remember sleeping better. Staying at Clifty Cove was a lovely way to get away from Halifax’s crowds and relax. I’d happily recommend it.
