Castle Rock Country Inn

The included continental buffet was fine, and the manager was a nice guy, even while he was busy trying to restore the internet after someone cut Bell’s fibre optic cable. We were there for one night on a Cape Breton trip. The common room looked recently redone and was really nice, and the location had tremendous views. Our upstairs room felt dated, though. It was small, with just a queen bed, poor lighting, barely any outlets, and no spare power bars. The bathroom had almost no counter space, the ceiling fan was noisy and seemed close to falling out, and the TV was more like a computer monitor, hard to see from bed. I’d looked at other options before booking, and if we came back to the area I’d consider staying elsewhere. Not awful, just missing a lot of the finer details.

We were a group of 17 seniors visiting Cape Smokey to ski. The staff were amazing, and the food was very good. Breakfast and dinner were part of the price. Most rooms didn’t have twin beds, so two adults shared them.

The staff were such a lovely welcome to Cape Breton. We stayed here on the first night of our road trip and woke up to an unbeatable ocean view. Breakfast was next level, with amazing hot choices and fresh fruit. What a great find.

Kim, one of the owners, made us feel very welcome, and we had a great stay at Castle Rock Country Inn. We were in room #6 upstairs, at the back, so there was no ocean view, and there’s no elevator. The room was standard, with dated decor, but very clean. Breakfast had plenty of choice, including breads, yogurt, cold cuts, sausages, and scrambled eggs. The dining room’s ocean view was absolutely fabulous. It’s a handy place to stay while exploring the eastern part of Cape Breton National Park.
