This is a budget place that could use some updating, but it was clean to look at and smell. We asked for a non-pet room since pets seemed popular here, and were happy with the room. The bed was comfortable, though the walls, floors, and doors were thin. The street was generally quiet. The office Filipino staff were friendly and accommodating, and the young handyman was nice too. When we had a shower problem, help came quickly. It’s on the edge of town, about a 15-minute walk to the centre. Parking felt tight, so we were glad to have a small car. The toiletries were fancy for a budget hotel. You can borrow board games from the office, and there’s a microwave there; microwaves are also available on request. We were pleased to find a mini fridge in our room. This was a little nicer than the Jasper Inn & Suites we’d stayed at before, though we might try somewhere else next time. The price here was hard to beat.

The water seemed so strong that it bleached our swimwear, which was pretty alarming. After using the hot tub and spending just a short time in the pool on our second night, we both developed rashes and intensely itchy skin. Three days later it was only just settling down. Neither of us has sensitive skin, and we’ve spent much longer in pools and hot tubs without this happening. I told the front desk, but got a somewhat sympathetic apology and didn’t feel they were very concerned. Just sharing in case anyone else uses the facilities, it may be worth keeping in mind. Otherwise we had a great stay. We arrived at the end of February 2024 and weren’t sure what to expect from the dated exterior, but the room was lovely after we paid a small fee to upgrade to a junior suite. Service was great and the walk into town was short and easy. Wicked cup served an amazing breakfast and great coffee. The photos show how dark the bikini used to be around the edges.

Check-in and checkout were smooth, the staff were friendly, and the beds were super comfortable. The hotel was clean and well priced for its quality. I liked being a little away from downtown’s bustle, and the ten-minute walk was pleasant. The main drawback was the pool and hot tub closing at 9 pm. That felt early, since we wanted to wind down after our activities; 11 pm would have suited us better. The pool was too cold for us to use, and the hot tub could have been warmer. It also felt uncomfortably crowded sitting so close to strangers. A commercial hot tub would have been better. We usually switch to the pool when that happens, but it was too cold.

The location was great, and Maricel, Jennifer, and Deanne were very friendly. They welcomed us with juice and coffee or tea. We had a great one-night stay. Our room felt like a one-bedroom apartment, with an up-to-date kitchenette stocked with appliances and kitchen supplies, including cutlery, a stove, microwave, oven, and fridge. No complaints about the room. The indoor and outdoor pools, gym, and sauna were great too. If you’re wondering whether to book here before driving on, I’d highly recommend it. I was in the same position.

Breakfast at Wicked Cup was my favourite part. It’s right in the lodge, which was convenient, and the food and service were very good. Check-in and checkout both went smoothly, and the front desk employees were great. My husband and I came from Edmonton for a few days away from the city and booked through Expedia. The room was okay but dated, and the mattress seemed old and dingy. The TV only played live channels, which was annoying. The hot tub was lukewarm, so not very impressive. All in all, a fairly decent stay.
