The view from the chalet is beautiful, but that’s the only good part of our stay. We found mice in the house. While my family was making supper, one ran across the kitchen counter. Later, my sister was on the basement couch when another crawled through the top of it. The basement linen closet also smelled strongly of droppings, musty and earthy in a gross way. We told the owners, but the guy brushed it off, saying the house is by the water, so there are mice, and at least they’re not rats. He said his girlfriend doesn’t like them either, but what can they do. That was basically the whole conversation. We booked through Chalets Confort. Caroline, our contact, was nice, though she knew about the mice. She couldn’t do much, and it felt like it was all about business. Of course, nobody tells you about this beforehand. We’d already made the long trip, so we tried to make the best of it. One morning I texted the owners to ask about a nearby hike with waterfalls, and got no reply. They did arrive the next morning with mouse traps, but they were pretty much useless. The house looks good in the pictures, but it’s old, outdated, and tacky. There weren’t enough towels, and the ones there were thin and cheap. The kitchen pots and pans were battered. The hot tub was way too hot, and we couldn’t lower the temperature; it seemed to be programmed that way. Never again. I wouldn’t recommend it, especially for families with children. Find somewhere sanitary with good customer service. Zero stars, big thumbs down.
