Riverside by Cowichan Lake Cottages

We had a great time here. The rooms were clean and really nice, with plenty of ways to cook if you wanted, but also a comfortable place to just relax. Outside, there’s a fire pit and barbecue overlooking the river, and it’s such a peaceful spot. We’ll definitely be back. Loved the sticker you left in our room, too!

We’d already started looking at dates for a longer stay next summer before we even left. Cowichan Lake Cottages made the whole visit easy, starting with booking: Matt and Alisha helped us change our dates and were flexible with our last-minute adjustments. They also got us into our suite early after we’d flown into Victoria, so we had somewhere to unwind before heading out on the river. The cottage was lovely, clean, and had everything we needed. It’s right on the beautiful water, with a dock where we could relax, and close to the tube shack, coffee shops, bakeries, and pub. Thanks for such a great stay. We can’t wait to come back.

We had everything we needed to cook in the clean, easy-to-use accommodation, and the quiet location was lovely. The best part for me was having an individual dock. I sat there in the evening with a warm drink and watched the light fade. Being right on the lake was magnificent, and I can imagine it’s ideal if you fish. I’d highly recommend Cowichan Lake Cottages for a peaceful getaway to recharge.

Ed’s Coffee is right next door, and restaurants, shops, and a barber are all about a five-minute walk away. That made this a handy base for my two-week fall stay, when I was fly-fishing around the Cowichan system. The lake and river are easy to reach, with trout, coho, and steelhead opportunities in season. I often started the day with coffee on the dock as the river fog lifted, then ended by the fire drying my waders and thinking over the day’s fishing. The cottages at Riverside by Cowichan Lake Cottages are comfortable, spotless, and set up well for short or longer stays. There’s lots of fridge space and good cooking equipment, though no oven. A private dock gives you a place to launch a kayak or small boat, or moor a drift boat. The large stone fireplace just above the water puts out plenty of heat, a nice spot to sit quietly or tell stories after being outdoors. The hosts were accommodating, and it was a cozy, peaceful place to come back to. 10/10.
