Knights Inn - Merritt, BC

The staff were great, very friendly and accommodating, and getting to the highway was easy. We booked through a third party and were told there’d be a pool and hot tub, but neither was there. The room was small and basic, though okay for the price. There was a note asking guests to leave $20 for room service if they didn’t wash the dishes. It left me wondering how carefully the previous guests had cleaned them, if at all, or whether they’d just been wiped.

We had a one-bedroom suite with a separate bedroom and another sleeping area in the main room. The units have kitchenettes, and pets are allowed in all the rooms. There was an extra $20 pet charge on top of what I paid through Hotwire. It’s all basic but good. The bedding feels a bit old school, though at these room prices I can live with that.

The room was spacious, and the kitchen had a good set of utensils. The loud vibrating noise from the air conditioner spoiled what otherwise would have been a wonderful stay. I don’t know if all the rooms have this AC problem, but it was definitely an issue in ours.

Customer service was friendly, but I never got an email confirmation and had to call to check that we were actually booked. I chose this place because the photos showed nice white bedding and we just needed somewhere clean to sleep. Instead, the comforters were old, brown, stained, and had cigarette burn holes. There were only two bath towels for a suite meant to sleep four, and a couple of things had been left in the cupboards by previous guests. The door had no weather stripping at the bottom, so cold air came in and we rolled clothes up there to stay warm. A mat by the door would also help keep the floor dry. Sound carried between suites, too. The people next door weren’t especially loud, but we could hear them talking until 4am. The woman at the front desk seemed really sweet, and I wish I had a better review to leave, but we won’t be back.
