Best Western Ville-Marie Montreal Hotel & Suites

Three of us shared two queen beds for a Montreal weekend, and they were comfortable. When we asked for a couple more pillows, staff got them for us without hesitation. We wanted to be near downtown, and the location was just right, within walking distance of the best bars and restaurants. I'd recommend the hotel.

We've stayed here many times over the years and usually had a decent experience, but this past weekend was the opposite. The whole building now has a strong Indian food smell from the restaurant recently installed beside the lobby. I love Indian food, just not having the hotel smell like it. Our room's Wi-Fi and TV were both out. When we told the concierge, all we got was “sorry to hear that,” with no effort to sort it out. I also broke out in a terrible rash on my face the first night, and think they may have changed the sheet detergent. We were so disappointed that we left a day early. Nobody asked how the stay went or why we were leaving early at checkout, which made it feel like they didn't care. The location is great, but it can't make up for the service and quality anymore.

The staff were lovely. I arrived on a red-eye and they got me into my room a couple of hours earlier than expected, which was a big help. I had booked a room described as smaller, but it was a good size, clean, and had a comfortable bed. The area is easy to explore on foot, and Peel metro is just a few blocks away.

The internet was the real problem for me. It was so slow that I had to switch to mobile data to finish an online course, and there wasn't a meeting or conference room with faster access when I asked. Otherwise, the rooms and bathrooms were clean, with cozy, clean bedding and no smell. The rooms are spacious and old but maintained, check-in and checkout went smoothly, and the front desk was courteous and helpful. Breakfast costs extra but is available downstairs at an affordable price. The location is convenient for attractions, the subway, McGill university, and plenty of restaurants serving different cuisines.
