Cleanliness was the main letdown. The room looked clean overall, but it wasn’t up to the standard I expected. There was dirt built up in the washbasin corners and around the shower, which made me wonder whether housekeeping and supervisors were paying enough attention to those details. The downtown location is perfect, the rooms are spacious, and the furniture is in very good condition. The front desk team were friendly, welcoming, supportive, and professional.

My main frustration was the restaurant’s weekday schedule. It closes at 11 AM and doesn’t reopen until 5 PM, so having lunch at the hotel is difficult. There are plenty of nearby restaurants, but in bad weather it would be nice to eat here in the middle of the day. Otherwise, this is probably the finest hotel I’ve stayed at in Montreal, even compared with several well-known places I’ve tried over the years. The rooms are large, modern, well equipped, and very quiet, with little outside noise. The HVAC works well, and the staff are gracious and accommodating. The restaurant is excellent too, with very good wait staff. Asal in particular did a great job.

I was here for a week, but the pool was under construction the whole time, so I couldn’t try it. The gym beside it was decently equipped. Parking costs extra and is underground. The hotel and room were very clean, and everyone I spoke with was nice. For this location, the price was very good, so I can’t complain that breakfast wasn’t included. I didn’t try the lobby restaurant since I’m generally not a fan of hotel restaurants, but there are lots of places to eat within walking distance. This is probably one of the nicest Holiday Inns I’ve stayed at, maybe one of the nicest hotels in general, and I’ve been to quite a few.

We appreciated the free move from our city-view room to a river-view room on a higher floor. The pool and gym were both large and clean, and shops, restaurants, and other local amenities were close by. There’s on-site parking, which is useful in such a busy city area, though it’s paid and needs to be reserved ahead. Our Queen Standard room was a reasonable size for a short stay and was clean and well maintained. The bathroom was very clean with basic amenities. There was a coffee machine, but not many pods. Room service was slow, and some staff didn’t seem very welcoming to English-speaking guests. It’s a comfortable, conveniently located hotel with good facilities. Faster service and a warmer staff attitude would make the experience better.
