Hotel Chrome Montreal

I booked through Expedia because the photos looked good. I wasn’t expecting a five-star place, and the price and location were appealing. I was in a rush and skipped the Google reviews, which I really regret. After reading about bedbugs and security concerns, I came here to confirm my suspicions. The place looked sketchy from the outside, almost like a construction site, and didn’t feel safe. I decided not to go in and lost the money for that night, then had to book another hotel. Honestly, avoid it at all costs.

For a cheap room to sleep in, this is a good option. The reception is open 24/7, and the receptionists are very nice. Check-in and check-out were quick and easy. Rooms are big, clean, and even have nice views. The building is a bit old and the elevator is wonky, but you get what you pay for. If you want top-class service and infrastructure, choose another hotel and pay the matching price.

The price is budget-friendly and the location is convenient, but the rooms are basic and showing their age. It’s a functional, no-frills stay rather than anything luxurious, definitely not a five-star experience. Hotel Chrome also has a laundry room with a microwave.

For the price, it’s fair, and the location is handy for walking around. There are two nearby subway stations and downtown isn’t far. St Catherine is close and lively at night, and the area feels safe. The hotel has a 24-hour concierge and vending machines by the front desk for drinks and snacks. My room was spacious, with a decent-sized TV, enough lighting and a large closet. The linens were good, the water pressure was strong, and the towels were clean. Face towels and Kleenex boxes were provided too, which is a bonus. The elevators worked well, but the hotel could use renovations, including updates to the faucets, toilet, amenities and walls. With an update, this could be a great spot.
