Le Chabrol Hotel & Suites

The security was the biggest concern. A stranger was at my door this morning, wearing a construction vest and speaking French. I shut the door right away and called the front desk to ask them to look into it. Ten minutes later I called again, and they said he was just a stranger and they'd kicked him out. No apology, and the staff were unfriendly. The carpet was dirty, the bed sheet was old and poor quality, and I found a hair on my pillowcase when I checked in.

At checkout, the woman accused me of smoking in the room because she found an empty cigarette pack in the trash. I told her I'd gone outside for my last cigarette during the night and brought the empty pack back since I couldn't find a garbage can. She said there was ash on the jacuzzi, but wouldn't let me see it, and also said there was no smell. First she offered to return only $100 of my $200 deposit, then the owner arrived and said they wouldn't pay anything. I got angry and called Visa to cancel the transaction. I paid $395 for the room. Stay away from these scammers.

Road construction was going on all around the hotel, though getting in and out was still fine. The room was clean, with a comfortable bed and a very nice bathroom, and the front desk service was excellent. It isn't a luxury hotel, but it was good value for a stopover while we were traveling.

For what it cost, I expected better. Room 107 was in rough shape, with old stained carpet and hair in the tub, which definitely wasn't mine since I'm bald. There wasn't even a boot tray for winter boots. The staff were friendly, breakfast was included and light, and there was parking on site. That's about all I can say after one January night.
