Majestik Suites Montreal

We got in before the official check-in time, but after we called the number on the reservation, they let us in without any trouble. The rooms were clean, nice and fully equipped. There was a big bed in one bedroom and a comfortable sofa bed in the other room, set up as a living room. Downtown location meant we could walk to lots of nearby places, with restaurants all around and sightseeing spots close by. A nice stay, no problems.

The Wi-Fi didn’t work, and the TV was so old the picture only showed two colours. There was no staff on site, and for a reservation for four people I waited an hour and a half for someone to bring the extra bedding and pillows I’d booked. I had to call several times before reaching anyone who could give me the key lock code. The bathroom had bugs and hair everywhere, plus a huge hole in the ceiling and a cracked sink. This was the most disgusting place I’ve ever been, and the worst place I’ve stayed in my life. I really don’t understand how somewhere like this can be called a hotel.

This place has character, so anyone who wants the same standardized hotel room everywhere may not be into it. For longer stays, though, the separate bedroom, living room and full kitchen appliances make it well worth the already reasonable price. Staff availability has been addressed, with someone reachable by phone around the clock. When I needed things like extra chairs, they were brought promptly and courteously. It’s also within walking distance of McGill and the Neuro, which is a bonus.

The location was handy, very close to the metro, Provigo and Jean Coutu. The staff were really nice and moved us to a different room after we complained. Our first room looked nothing like the advertised photos. It was small, the couch and cupboards were dirty, and wires for the lamps and TV were hanging out all over the place. The paintwork and general maintenance could use improvement, as could reception.
