Residence Inn Montreal Midtown

I had bed bug bites after I got home from my stay on the 6th floor. This was my first time at this location. On my last visit I stayed next door at Courtyard Marriott. Traffic around the hotel is heavy, though the location is good if you’re taking the train into downtown Montreal. It might be okay outside the winter months.

The mid-town location was convenient, close to RoyalMount Mall and good places to eat. Our room was spacious and very clean, the staff were friendly, and breakfast was good each day. We had a great stay.

The sofa bed left a lot to be desired, and there was a beep or chirp every few minutes, like a smoke detector with dying batteries. We couldn’t figure out what was making it. Coffee was disappointing: the room coffee was gross, and housekeeping didn’t refill the creamer on the second day. Breakfast was disappointing too. On day one the coffee was cold, the fruit was gross, some yogurts had been dropped, broken, and put back out, and the bacon was rubbery. On day two there was no regular coffee until they refilled it as we were leaving, even though we ate there. The hash browns were soggy, the fruit was the same as the day before and well past when it should have been served, and they ran out of milk and waffle mix. On the plus side, staff were friendly and knowledgeable, the location was great, and the room was very clean. The king bed and rollaway bed were both comfortable. I loved that housekeeping cleaned daily without being asked, which is refreshing since that’s less common now.

Carla from housekeeping has been friendly and hardworking since our first day here. Yorlany at the bistro in the adjacent Courtyard is just as welcoming and attentive, and the food there is fresh and tasty. We’re here for a long stay while renovations are underway, and the large, fully equipped room has been working well for us. The laundry room is excellent, and we’ve been enjoying the gym and pool. The front desk, maintenance, cleaning, and kitchen teams have all been great, including the staff serving the generous breakfast each day. No surprise the place gets busy.
