Hotel Alila

The owner went out of their way to meet our needs, and the service was five stars. It's a nice budget hotel, close to a few cross-country trails. We had a wonderful stay.

We booked the best room they had, and it was perfect for time away with my husband. The host, Jackie, was kind, courteous, flexible with our plans, knew a lot about the property's history, and was just a cool dude. This is a gem if you understand what kind of place it is. If you want a stuck-up five-star hotel, go somewhere else. And if you're looking for a romantic stay, don't book the cheapest room at a three- or four-star place. Those rooms are for people who just need somewhere soft to sleep for the night. The room had a working double-sided fireplace, a clean jacuzzi that was just the right size, a king bed with a lovely white duvet and lots of pillows, and a large, sturdy, safe balcony. There was also a clean, spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower, a working TV, a couch, chairs, a desk, plenty of towels, a fridge, microwave, and toaster. Outside, there are lovely walking paths, several usable fire pits, and a river with a stone path where you can sit right at the edge. The waterfall does work, yes! They don't run it all night or when there are no guests. It starts in the morning around 8, and you can ask if you want it on. There's a sauna, and a bakery across the street that I think opens at 8 or 9, so best to check. The gas station with a CoucheTard is a two-minute walk away. The highway is close, and the nearby streets are quiet for walking. There's no coffee machine in the room. After talking with Jackie, I understand why, since people keep breaking them and not respecting the room. Maybe they could put coffee vending machines on each floor. I'm not going to complain about the old wallpaper or say they need better carpeting. The place doesn't claim to be the best, though it could be. Money is tight, I get it, but they can't make improvements if people don't give them a chance and leave decent reviews. The place has good bones, a nice setup, and caring owners. If you see the potential like we did, give them your business. I'd hate to see it disappear. Jackie, we'll be back in a month or so. Thanks for your hospitality. 😌

The river view was really nice, and Jackie was so kind and friendly. Best hotel in the region.

The person at the service was very kind, thankfully. My daughter had some bad allergies here, though, and the place wasn't clean, especially the bathroom.
