Best Western Fireside Hotel

The breakfast was basic but fine, and the price was good. The hotel itself is old, though, and the rooms seem poorly renovated. The pool was freezing, with old facilities. They advertise a secondary parking lot at Clifton Hill, but it's actually on Stanley Avenue, about a 20 minute walk from Clifton Hill.

The manager upgraded my friend and me to two rooms on the main, second floor, at no extra cost when we checked in. We'd booked two standard rooms for one night before going to the Shaw Festival in Niagara on the Lake. Both rooms were pleasant and spotless, with really comfortable beds, and we enjoyed the delicious, nutritious breakfast. We'd definitely stay again for the Shaw Festival.

We had a hot continental breakfast, access to the pool and sauna, and friendly staff who were always at the front desk. Check-in and checkout were easy. River Rapids Inn met what I expected from a higher end budget hotel offering value, which helps explain why families like it. The hallways and rooms could use some updating, and traffic from the busy road may be audible depending on your room, so earplugs could help. It's a solid budget choice, about a 10 minute drive downtown.

I've stayed here several times over the years and really like the place. I got to know some of the staff, a really nice family, and the service has always been lovely. There are lots of breakfast choices. The rooms are spacious and very clean, and since it's away from the main attractions, it's peaceful too.
