Hotel Montfort Nicolet

We booked the Valentine special with a five-course meal, and I told them my wife was allergic to seafood and nuts. They assured me it wouldn't be a problem. I called again a couple of days before to check that they knew about her allergies, but when we arrived there was hardly anything she could eat. I had to take her portion because she couldn't eat it. The service also took forever. We booked for 7 and left at 10 because it had gotten so late. It was a horrible Valentine's night, and I spent all that money while my wife was left hungry. If they couldn't accommodate her allergies, they should've said so, and we would've booked somewhere else. We're not going back.

The view from our top-floor room was nice, and the server was excellent. The breakfast buffet was included and better than I expected, with fresh fruit and plenty of choices. We also enjoyed the coffee shop. The room and decor were plain, though, and the Valentine's surprise could've been better. I was hoping for at least a rose, maybe petals or something chocolate-themed. The winter wine was alright. The four-course meal was decent, but I was annoyed to pay extra when I thought it was all included in the promotion. We had free access to the spa, with four hot tubs, a cold plunge, a small sauna, and a nice fire pit. We paid for a one-hour couples massage with a facial massage and a day pass to the spa. Compliments to Frederique and Robin, our massage therapists. It was a decent, memorable night overall, and we'll visit again in summer.

At the front desk I brought up how confusing the spa access was, and staff agreed guests were often confused, but nothing was done. The booking photos showed the spa without saying there was an extra fee, so I found it misleading to learn on arrival that access wasn't included. Our massages were fully booked for all three days we were there. The restaurant and staff were okay, and the place has potential, but management is getting a lot wrong and guests seem confused about something at every turn. We paid about $350 a night through Expedia. I understand prices change with demand, but it wasn't fully booked and the rate seemed to be around $200 a night when we arrived. I would've come back, but I won't. I don't recommend it, and even with the spa, I wouldn't gamble on another stay. Once burned, you don't return.

Wow, so comfortable. They made us feel very welcome, and the rooms are perfect.
