Rustico Acres Cottages

The cottage looked charming from outside, but inside there was an unbearable smell of cat litter and dog urine that made our stay miserable. I explained the problem several times, but all they suggested was spraying air freshener. They didn't offer a solution or another cottage. The ammonia smell gave me a certain headache. It's a shame, since the place could have been nice, but this experience has completely put us off coming back.

The duplex was super clean and close to both Cavendish and North Rustico. It got a bit loud when the other family moved around, but I'd definitely stay again. I was here with my kids.

We had a small porch with chairs and a barbecue overlooking the open grounds, where there was a pool, fire pits, and swings and a play area for kids. Cottage 6 was just the right size for a couple, and it was clean, quiet, and reasonably priced. Inside, there was a little kitchenette with a small fridge/freezer, stovetop, plenty of dishes, and even salt and pepper. The location worked well for Rustico and Cavendish beach, though you'll still need a car to get around. Charlottetown was about 25 minutes away. We'd recommend it to others staying nearby and will be back on our next visit.

The grounds were a plus: with just eight cabins, the pool, play area, and three fire pits never felt crowded. We had both a “bachelor” cabin and a two-bedroom one, and they came equipped with what you need. The smaller cabin's pull-out couch was misleading, though. It opened into a single bed and had to be moved to pull it out. Neither couch had sheets, blankets, or pillows, so we had to fetch those ourselves. The beds were all very uncomfortable. I'm tall, and my feet hung off the double bed. They really need better beds.
