Homewood Suites by Hilton Ottawa Downtown

The suite had a luxurious feel, and the comfort, atmosphere, and overall quality made this one of the best hotels I've stayed at in Canada. I had a wonderful time and would still recommend it. A few things could be better. Breakfast was identical on both days I was there, so more variety would help. The TVs also feel dated and don't offer Netflix or newer streaming apps. Parking was inconvenient at $25 a day, especially after booking two suites. I understand the lot isn't owned by the hotel, but complimentary parking for guests would be a nice improvement. There are also vehicle size limits, and my pickup truck didn't fit, so I had to leave it parked outside overnight, which was stressful. A few changes like these could make an already good hotel even better.

Dyson at the front desk made our stay especially nice. He was full of useful information and went out of his way with requests and tips. The kids loved the pool, breakfast, and comfortable sofa bed, and the bath products were a nice extra. The location was convenient for the Rideau Canal Skateway, the architecture around Parliament, and good lunch and dinner options.

The underground heated parking was easy to use, and there’s a Food Basics right across the street from the rooms with mini kitchens. It’s a good location, very clean, and the breakfast was great. The pool is massive and the gym is big, though it gets too hot and stuffy in there. We had a great stay, were very happy, and would come back.

We were there for two nights between Xmas and New Year. The front desk staff were helpful, the location was great, and the coin laundry was a big help, $5 to wash and the dryers were free. Breakfast was the rough part. At 0900 on both mornings we waited 15-20 minutes for a table, and once seated we found several food and drink options still needed replenishing. I imagine it would be less of a problem outside the holiday season. The pool area was a decent size. The pool was heated, but felt a bit cold, though still comfortable.
