Port Hope Inn

The rooms were filthy, some smelled of tobacco, and construction was obstructing areas. Staff were extremely rude and unhelpful, including the manager, who kept disappearing. My partner was assured I could check in early, but I was given the runaround and wasn’t shown any rooms until I used my own credit card to book. They directed me to three rooms one by one. The first two were unacceptable, and the third had a queen bed even though we had booked a king. It was just as dirty as the first two, and then I was told to leave. So much for the advertised hospitality. To the owner: you need new staff, and rooms that are dirty or under construction should be blocked off. The hallways need cleaning and deodorizing. This hotel isn’t ready for the public and is a public safety hazard. The pictures say it all.

I was tired on the drive home with five hours still to go, and needed somewhere to stop for safety. The staff welcomed me so warmly that I felt at home. I had a great experience and would give it 10/10 for the hospitality. Before leaving, I tried to find the staff member so I could thank her in person for the service. I hope she sees this. Thanks again.

I left the same day and didn’t stay overnight. The room was very dusty, there was no warm water in the shower, and a terrible smell filled both the rooms and hallways. I can’t imagine anyone with allergies being able to stay there. Staff didn’t even ask why I left. It’s an old place in poor condition and doesn’t feel like a real hotel. I definitely deserve a refund. Don’t waste your money.

The smell throughout the place was awful, and the hotel felt extremely outdated. The beds sagged and creaked, the shower curtain was ripped, paint was peeling, the windows wouldn’t lock, and the back door wouldn’t open with a key and stayed open all the time. A strange man tried to open our room door. Staff were rude and didn’t answer the phone. They also didn’t refund our deposit until we called the credit card company, so check your statements. This was the worst place ever, zero stars. It should be inspected and shut down. I’d rather sleep in my car.
