Hotel Louisbourg

The only real positive was the location, and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. Before check-in, I called to ask if we could arrive a little earlier since we got to Québec City early. It rang and rang, then said voicemail was full, so I couldn’t leave a message. We went to the hotel anyway, but the doors were confusingly locked and nobody answered. We waited until 4 pm before someone finally showed up. The young man who greeted us wasn’t friendly or helpful. Our room was okay, though it could have been nicer and cleaner. The bathroom was the worst part. The light above the sink didn’t work, so they plugged in a floor lamp instead of fixing it. The hot water tap was hard to turn off and leaked. These seem like easy, inexpensive repairs, and it made me wonder if the owners know about them or just choose to ignore them. It gave the impression they don’t care about guests. The desk clerk gave us parking addresses, and we tried the closest one, Maison de Beaucours. The underground lot’s automated gate kept saying “Monthly only” when we swiped our card, and wouldn’t open. After several tries we had to back out, turn around, and leave through the exit. Luckily no cars were behind us. While we waited to see what happened with the first car arriving, three cars came through the short, tight entrance. The gate gave them the same message, but two cars were behind the first one, so it couldn’t back out like we did. What a major inconvenience for all of them.
