Motel Bavaria

The manager was pleasant and understanding once she came out. She said they were running a little behind and asked me to wait a few minutes, which I was completely fine with. The man at the office, though, was pretty rude about it. I’d noted on my reservation that I needed a 2pm check-in because I had to be somewhere by 3pm. I arrived around 1:30/1:45 and asked whether the room might be ready, saying I knew I was early and could grab a coffee and come back in half an hour if that helped. He insisted nobody could check in before at least 3pm and pointed to a handwritten note tucked in a corner that you couldn’t see when entering the office. After I pushed back about my early check-in request, he went to get the person I assume was the manager. She handled things well. The guy could use some lessons in friendly customer service instead of giving people attitude.

The kitchenette was a nice extra, but it really needed better cleaning. We weren’t sure the dishes had been washed, so we washed them in hot, soapy water and cleaned the two lower shelves before putting them back. I couldn’t reach the top shelf, but could see dust and debris beside the kettle and toaster. The kettle had a greasy film, so we didn’t use it, and we didn’t check the toaster since we had no need for it. The microwave looked dusty, too. The table needed wiping and was so wobbly that we kept our food in our own plastic containers on our laps to avoid spills. If housekeeping improves, this place could earn more stars. Be ready to do a bit of cleaning yourself. The motel is central, easy to find, and reasonably priced. The manager was very friendly, cheerful, and helpful, and the cleaner we met in the morning was bright and friendly. Though the building is clearly old, our room was fairly quiet, the beds comfortable, and the clean bathroom had plenty of towels.

We had a really relaxing, comfortable stay, and everything was very clean. We told the host it was our anniversary and that we were spending the weekend going on adventures. He upgraded us to the best room, which had a very spacious jet bath tub. My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time.

The location worked well for the car show, with Main Street and the event both within walking distance. But the price went from $71 to over $200 a night. They never cleaned our room or even emptied the trash. When we got there at 1:30 am, the door was open to the outside, and while showering we spotted black mold on the wall grout. I told the owner we’d be checking out early and mentioned the mold. She just said thanks for letting me know.
