Howey Bay Motel & Restaurant

The food was delicious, especially the pizza, and we didn’t wait long. The restaurant was clean and neat with a nice interior, and the staff seemed fine overall. We stopped in briefly with friends for a few things to eat. It was Sunday wing day, so wings were $10 instead of $18. We just had water with lemon because we had work the next day. When the waitress asked about drinks and we ordered water, I noticed an unhappy look on her face. I can’t say why she reacted that way, but it felt like she wasn’t pleased we chose water instead of alcohol. That made us uncomfortable, even though the rest of the visit was good. I’d suggest some training for the staff, especially that particular waitress, the tall white girl. Guests ordering water or soda should get the same service as those ordering a full meal. Management might remind staff how to treat every guest. Many people come for business, often in large groups, and poor service like this could lose corporate clients and regular travelers who might spend a lot here.

Our flight for a fishing trip was delayed, so we ended up staying three nights when we hadn’t planned to. The staff understood and worked with us each day. The restaurant staff were just as great. Excellent service.

The steaks are so tender, and the wings are great with lots of good flavors. Electric honey and hot honey are top notch. A decent range of beers on tap, and the staff and service are excellent.

Had steak and eggs this morning, and it came out just moments after I ordered. Pretty quick turnaround. Compliments to the staff and chef.
