We were left waiting in the hallway until my friend arrived and paid with her own credit card. Only then were my two children and I allowed into the room. I had arrived after 10 p.m. after a vacation in Jamaica, exhausted, and needed to rest before our six-hour drive back to Montreal the next day. The room had already been booked and prepaid with my card. The front desk agent refused check-in because I didn’t have the physical card used to make the reservation. I explained that I hadn’t brought that particular card, showed my passport, and asked him to check my identity against the booking. He kept saying it was “the rule.” At one point he said I “looked like a good person,” but still needed to be sure the card was mine. When I asked whether I’d have to cancel and find another hotel so late, he said they would still charge my card. I understand security procedures and was respectful and cooperative, but this felt completely unreasonable. Policies are for protection, yet the way they’re applied says a lot about a hotel. What stood out here was the lack of flexibility, empathy, and basic customer care.

The rooms were clean, comfortable, and satisfactory, but be careful with your physical card at check-in and keep it in sight. We later had to cancel ours after repeated small overseas credit purchases we couldn’t explain. Looking back, our card had been under the counter for quite a while, even though tapping it should have been enough. There’s no definitive proof the two things were connected, but it feels like too much of a coincidence. Just be cautious.

The rooms were very clean, though a bit cramped with two beds, and the service was good. Prices were reasonable too. The parking lot is small, and it was full when we got back late in the evening, so we had to leave the car at a plaza across the street. That wasn’t great.
