Cozy Home Near Transit & Hillcrest Mall with Free Parking

This place was awful and badly misrepresented. It’s a house in a residential neighborhood split into five one-room “apartments” with shared living areas. The room was tiny, the furniture was beat up, and even our private bathroom was very small. There were ants everywhere. When I told the cleaning lady, she mumbled that nothing could be done. The second night, someone started smoking on a lower floor and smoke filled the place. There’s a shared kitchen and laundry, but only three parking spots, so we parked on the street the first night. The bed had no sheets, which we had to buy, and we were given two towels but no washcloths, so we had to buy those too. I stayed May 13 to May 16. The location is convenient enough: a bus and train transfer gets you downtown, Walmart is nearby, and there’s a mall with Tim Horton's and other fast-casual places. There are also several good restaurants within a mile’s drive. I’m budget-conscious, but this place is unacceptable, whatever the price. I don’t understand the good reviews apart from the low cost. Hotels.com blocked my negative review after the property cancelled my trip even though I had stayed there. They told me the cancellation prevented them from posting it. I think the property is using that as a backdoor to stop negative reviews. Hotels.com seems to recognize what’s happening but won’t do anything. I filed a complaint with the BBB, and the property website is down too. Buyer beware.
