Auberge Beauséjour

Sebastien was excellent at check-in, with drinks and meals, and his recommendations were great. He was handling it all alone, though, so service couldn't always keep up. We might have stayed in the salon for another drink if someone had been available. The stay at Auberge Beauséjour was lovely, with a lot of charm and care in the décor, and it's close to the Saint-Joseph-de-la-Rive ferry to Île aux Coudres. The auberge has plenty of space, rooms that are just the right size, and strong WiFi. Dinner has an unusual setup: you order ahead, and local restaurants prepare and deliver the meals. I had the cassoulet and really enjoyed it, especially since I like trying Québécois food. Breakfast was fine, but I'd have liked more variety and a few more hot choices. Even so, I'd definitely come back.

The reception lady was so welcoming and kind, and we had a great stay in this lovely, charming area. Be sure to stop by the marine museum and the waterside.

The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the service was just as lovely. The staff were kind, and it was clear they enjoy their work. I loved staying at this auberge, especially the antique bureau and the mirrors out on the veranda. Some things could use an update, including the cracked window in our room and a few tiles. The bathroom is a little cramped, but it does the job.

The customer service was nice, and the Gare Fluviale is only a minute's drive away for the trip to isle aux coudres. The rooms are small and dated, but there is wifi. We were on the mountain side and it was quiet; although the building is near the train tracks, we didn't hear the train. The old construction does carry sound, though, and we could hear neighbouring units using their sinks or showers. There's no elevator for the upper floors, so you have to use the stairs. You get what you pay for.
