The winter setting at Lac Taureau felt like stepping into a fantasy film, and the weekend was wonderfully peaceful. Dinner at Bistro La Drave made it even better: the chili bowl and lamb burgers were delicious, and the “tiki” and “Érablière” mocktails were standouts. Chef Derek and our lovely waitress, Sophie, deserve the credit for such a great meal and service.

The setting is beautiful and has real potential, and the food tasted good, but nearly $200 for one dinner was far too much. The tip was also added automatically, which felt wrong since tips should reflect the service. The manager refused to refund us despite the condition of the rooms, so this was our first and last visit. Both rooms we saw were shockingly dirty. We wiped up a little spilled water and the floor cloth came away black. It looked as though the floors were never washed, and the mirror was dirty too. The second room was no better, so we asked to move and got no improvement. There was also constant noise from people walking overhead, making sleep difficult. It didn't feel relaxing or romantic for a couple. Between the poor cleanliness, noise, management response, and overpriced meal, I can't recommend staying here.

There’s plenty to keep everyone busy here, from boats and fishing to indoor and outdoor pools. Our balcony looked right out over the lake, and the beach was clean and lovely. It’s a fantastic family getaway, especially in summer, and one of our favorite places.

The lakefront setting is beautiful, and we always enjoy coming back. The rooms are comfortable, the dining is fantastic, and the bar has a cozy, fun feel.
