Alt Hotel St. John's

The staff were friendly and helpful, though there aren't many good restaurants close by. We stayed five nights, and the bedroom was lovely, with a large, very comfortable bed. The bathroom was a good size and the shower worked well. Breakfast was the letdown for such a nice hotel. The main dining room's offerings felt almost pretentious, with the chef serving over-the-top items that might suit dinner better. It was expensive, too. The coffee shop by reception was the other option, but it's popular with locals heading to work. Twice, the breakfast pastries had already run out by the time we arrived.

After a long travel day, we opened the door to find treats celebrating my wife's birthday, her homecoming and our anniversary. We were visiting St. John’s, the city where she was born, for her birthday and our anniversary. It was my first time there, though I've admired Newfoundland for a long time, and the place felt magical. We still have post-vacation blues a month later and can't wait to come back. Alt Hotel's location is perfect, within easy walking distance of everything the city offers. The kind team was one reason the hotel caught my eye, and one phone call confirmed it. Lauren was incredibly kind and helpful when I called with questions. Thanks to Lauren and the team for making our trip so memorable. If you're unsure about the Sea View room, go for it. Opening the blinds each morning and watching the water traffic was so fun.

We slept really well, thanks to responsive climate controls, adjustable lights and electric blinds. The room was comfortable, and ours had an amazing harbour view. Staff at Alt Hotel St. John's were friendly and gave us useful suggestions for things to do downtown. The hotel is right on the water and close to George Street, the pub district with live music nightly. If you're there on a Wednesday, check out O'Reilly's with "Those Beautiful Uglysticks". The front desk staff were welcoming and helpful, and Jane deserves a special shout-out. We had a brilliant upgraded harbour room that was worth the price. The hotel is near the main sights, and I'd definitely stay again. The restaurant next door was very good, with a great breakfast and quality food. There's also a coffee and cake kiosk in the foyer.
