Cairns Motel

The rooms were lovely and spotless, the grounds were cared for, the Wi-Fi was great, and the staff were welcoming. It was nicer than what I usually picture when I hear “motel.” We had serious problems too, though. There was no hot water the first night, and it was fixed the next morning. During a heat wave, the AC barely worked on our third and last day. When we got back that night, the room was around 90 degrees. I understand it’s family-run and staff aren’t reachable after 9 p.m., but with no on-call maintenance line, neither issue could be handled until the next day. We went to bed feeling grimy after a day in the car on the first night, and couldn’t sleep because of the heat on the last. Even a fan would have helped a lot. I told the staff about the AC when we checked out. They said they’d look into it, but didn’t offer a partial refund or anything. At over $100 a night, I was surprised there wasn’t an effort to make things right when we missed basic comforts on two of our three nights.

This was our first trip to Atlantic Canada, and we’d happily return to the island with another stay at Cairns Motel. The rooms are cozy and exceptionally well kept, and it’s clear the owners take pride in the place. It was quiet, the beds were comfortable, and we got a couple of good nights’ sleep. The owners made us feel welcome right away and were so friendly. Our room at Cairn’s Motel in Summerside was super clean, the bed was comfortable, and everything worked, from the Wi-Fi to the hot shower and cold AC. We loved staying here while visiting family and will be back next time we’re in PEI. Lovely owners and great rooms, highly recommend.

The front desk woman was attentive and really friendly, and the prices were among the most competitive I’ve seen. My rooms had fridges and microwaves, and the motel had been newly renovated. The beds and sheets were very comfortable. It’s the cleanest motel I’ve ever stayed in, one of my best motel experiences.
