Hearthstone Lodge

The rooms have all kinds of amenities you could think of. But some staff are quite rude and unprofessional, and often there’s no one at the front desk or message left. Management seems to care more about money than customer service and the guest experience. The ski storage is small and messy.

The rooms were big, with a full kitchen including a countertop stove, microwave, full-size fridge and dishwasher, plus a TV and AC. They’re in the process of updating and repainting, and it’s looking good. Staff are friendly, and there’s a fitness room and two outdoor hot tubs open from 8am to 10pm. I enjoyed my four-night stay. I had to pay for underground parking when I arrived, but they give you the choice of using it or parking outside. Definitely recommended.

Meeting the friendly, helpful staff was probably the best part of our stay. We booked a studio at Hearthstone Lodge, and it had all the basics we needed: a fridge, stove, cutlery, electric kettle and microwave. The room was spacious, well kept and nicely heated, with its own fireplace. The bathroom was clean, the bed comfortable, and my wife especially liked the heavy duvet. It’s one of our favorite resort places to stay.

The ski-in, ski-out access lived up to the website description, and Hearthstone Lodge is close to the main lifts and restaurants. There’s also a grocery store a block away, plus ski storage right by the exit, which was handy. We chose it because we needed a place for four, and the room had plenty of useful equipment, though it’s a little dated. I wish the website had listed what was provided, since we brought a lot from home that we didn’t need. The staff were courteous and looked after everything we needed. I’d stay again if we return to Sun Peaks for skiing.
