Nancy Greene's Cahilty Hotel & Suites

The hot tub was just what we needed to soothe sore muscles after the race. The only catch was that I drew the short straw and got the pull-out couch, which wasn’t exactly luxurious. We stayed two nights at Nancy Greene's Cahilty Lodge in Sun Peaks during the 5 KM Foam Fest, and had a great time. The rooms were clean, cozy and had everything we needed for a comfortable weekend. Erin at the front desk made check-in and checkout smooth and stress-free, and her mix of professionalism and warm hospitality made us feel welcome right away. The whole staff were fantastic. We’ll definitely be back, and I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Sun Peaks for a clean, convenient lodge with good amenities and stellar staff.

The best thing about the place was how close it was to the concert venue and everything else in the village. We booked at the last minute for a concert, so at first we were just glad to find somewhere to stay. Our basic double-queen room on the second floor smelled unpleasant, though neither of us could pin down what the smell was. It wasn’t exactly musty, just some combination of bad odors. We opened the windows straight away, which we needed to do anyway since there was no AC. We would normally have asked to move, but when booking we were told there were no other rooms available. The room seemed very dated, like it hadn’t been renovated since the lodge was built. There was almost no sound insulation either. Maybe a top-floor room would help somewhat.

After travelling all day, I expected an air-conditioned room, not just a fan circulating hot air. The room felt like an oven when we walked in, even though the hallway and reception were air-conditioned. Opening the windows only let in more hot air. In Australia, hotels have air-conditioned rooms, so guests can choose their comfort level. Please air-condition the rooms, not just the hallway.

The location is what makes this place so good: right on the slopes for ski-in, ski-out, and close to the resort centre and ski hire. The rooms aren’t the biggest or most luxurious, but they’re better and larger than a lot of ski accommodation in Europe. We even got to say hello to Nancy Greene! Fabulous place. I’d absolutely return and recommend it.
