The way Deluxe Inn handled check-in left me feeling like an inconvenience instead of a paying guest. I arrived at noon, cold and tired, ready to check in. A front desk woman named Heeper or Hipa, I’m not sure of the spelling, flatly told me I couldn’t come in until 3:00 PM, even though rooms were available. She offered no flexibility or empathy, just repeated the policy. I ended up sitting in my car in the cold for three hours while empty rooms sat inside. To me, this was rigid enforcement without concern for guests. After I finally checked in, I asked for the manager’s phone number so I could raise the issue. No staff member could provide it. Their answers sounded rehearsed and evasive, as if they were trying to prevent accountability. Maybe the manager is deliberately unreachable, or maybe staff are trained to dodge responsibility. Either way, it’s a joke. Policies should guide service, not replace common sense. Hotels around the world sometimes allow early check-in if a room is ready, for a small fee or simply as a courtesy. This place doesn’t seem to treat guests like customers. If this is how they handle a basic check-in, I can only imagine what would happen with a real problem. The lack of flexibility, transparency, and leadership is alarming. There are better options with staff who understand hospitality is about people. Save yourself the cold, frustration, and feeling that you don’t matter, and book somewhere else. Deluxe Inn has made sure I’ll never return. I hope this review helps someone avoid the same experience.

We paid $130 for a room that felt like a $60 motel room, and the heater was very loud. We checked in very late for just one night before surgery at Mt. Sanai Hospital at 5 a.m., so we literally only slept there. It was about a 20 min drive from downtown Toronto, right beside McDonald's, which was cool. The front desk lady was very nice, and it’s a no smoking motel. They don’t offer special accommodations for people having surgery at Mt. Sanai Hospital, though I know some places do. In my opinion, it was way overpriced.

I haven’t been back in years, and my impression may be biased, but I stayed around 2021 and wanted to share my experience after seeing newer negative reviews. I first stayed with my family, then came back several times because it was one of the better hotels in the area. Staff and cleaners were very friendly. The lobby has an ice machine you can use whenever you like, plus some free coffee and tea. The rooms had nice furniture and interior design, and the inside looked much better than the outside. Internet was pretty good too. There were issues, though. One room had ants all over the bathroom, so we had to switch rooms. The sheets felt itchy and were sometimes dirty, and I sometimes got itchy red marks on my skin. The beds were comfortable otherwise, but the rooms were a bit small and tight to move around in. It’s still a nice place to stay, even if the price feels high for the quality.

I’m in town for business a lot, and Ursula at the front desk is my favorite. She has a lovely attitude and creates a lovely atmosphere. Any issues I’ve had were handled professionally, and I felt respected and cared for. This is my go-to Inn for a peaceful rest.

The room looked decent enough, simple, older, and clean, but over two nights my travelling companion and I ended up with multiple bites each. I don’t think they were bed bugs. I suspect midges or chiggers, but the itchy welts were so bad we both had to see doctors and get steroids to calm them down. Across the street, a late-night car meet kept revving muscle cars and loud mufflers up and down the road all night, making sleep difficult. Based on this, I wouldn’t recommend the place and would never stay again. Getting checked in was stressful too. We were attending a Blue Jays Game, so we called ahead because check-in overlapped with the game. We were told we could park there and check in after. When we arrived, we asked the front desk woman to add our license plate so we wouldn’t be towed. She asked us to wait ten minutes until her shift ended. We said we were getting an Uber to the game, and she reluctantly opened the reservation and added it in about 30 seconds. After the game, we went to dinner to let traffic die down. The hotel called asking whether we were checking in. I explained we’d called earlier and would arrive after dinner. They asked how long, and I said a couple of hours. Within the next hour and a half they called again. I told them we were in a traffic jam in an Uber, on our way, but couldn’t give a time because traffic wasn’t moving. They said they’d tried to charge the full booking to the card on file. I told them it was for a deposit only. At check-in, a man asked for the license plate we had provided hours before, charged us the full booking before we entered the room, then tried to add another $200 deposit. We refused to pay a deposit after being charged in full. I’ve stayed at many hotels in Canada, the USA, South America, and Europe, and have never been charged the full amount before checkout. It’s always been a deposit hold followed by payment. He said he was new and gave us the keys.
